18th Season starts Friday 15th September 2023

Nailsworth Film Club was set up in 2003 by a group of enthusiasts with the aim of showing high-quality films to the people of Nailsworth and surrounding villages in a convenient local setting. NFC is a not- for-profit community group and has no funding sources other than members' subscriptions. Thanks to existing and new members for your continued support.

Membership for 2023-24 (over 18's only please) entitles you to a free seat at every performance and to free use of our DVD loan service from the Film Club collection. Guests are welcome at £7 per film. Membership forms can be downloaded from our website (see below) or obtained from Nailsworth Town Information Centre (TIC).

Our 2019-2020 Season kicks off with 'Stan & Ollie'

Films are shown on Friday evenings in the Arkell Centre, Forest Green, Nailsworth, GL6 OET. There is ample parking in the school car park or on-street parking nearby but please do not park in Beechwood Close. The bar opens at 7.30pm and films start at 8.00pm. Seats are not numbered so it is advisable to arrive early to guarantee your place.

15th Season starts Friday 7th September 2018

Our 2018-19 Season kicks off with 'Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool' - Adapted from the book written by Peter Turner. A tremendous central duo breathe life into Paul McGuigan's endearing retelling of the real life romance between a struggling young actor and Oscar winner Gloria Graham during her last years, from 1979 to 1981.
Also a pitch perfect cameo role for Julie Walters.

14th Season starts Friday 8th September 2017

The first film of our 2017-18 Season is 'A Street Cat Named Bob' - This is the true-story of James Bowen (Luke Treadaway), a homeless busker, whose life is changed when he is befriended by a stray ginger-cat. A tale of second chances, this is a warm-hearted and amiable social drama, which won the 2017 UK National Film Award for Best British Film.

13th Season starts Friday 9th September 2016

The first film of our 2016-17 Season will be 'Spotlight' - which won the Oscar for best picture, and is a well crafted and thoughtful investigative journalism docu-drama that is buoyed by great performances. The true story of how the Boston Globe uncovered the massive scandal of child abuse and cover up shaking the Catholic Church in America to the core. This film is more thrilling than most action movies.

It will be shown in the Arkell Centre at 8pm on Friday 9th September - look out for the banner, which will be erected near the Clock Tower during the week before.

12th Season starts Friday 4th September 2015

The first film of our 2015-16 Season will be 'What We Did On Our Holiday' - Written and directed by Andy Hamilton and Guy Jenkin, the creators of TV's 'Outnumbered', this delightful family comedy follows a similar format. Billy Connolly stars as the ailing grandfather who has reluctantly accepted that his family visit to celebrate his 75th birthday. While the adults bicker and family secrets emerge, grandfather finds refuge and joy in the company of his three precocious grandchildren, who are the real stars of the film and the source of much of the comedy. A hugely likeable film, you will leave with a smile on your face.

It will be shown in the Arkell Centre at 8pm on Friday 4th September - look out for the banner, which will be erected near the Clock Tower during the week before.

This first film of the season will be shown for a special fee of £3 for non-members (over 18's only please) - but please do take the opportunity to join the club on the night or contact our Membership Secretary, Krissy Spencer on 01453 549661.

11th Season starts Friday 5th September 2014

The first film of our 2014-15 Season will be 'Le-Weekend' - set in Paris and starring Lindsay Duncan and Jim Broadbent, the film follows a married couple looking to rekindle their relationship on a long weekend in Paris, the world's most romantic city. All does not go to plan in this entertaining opener to our 11th Season. It will be shown in the Arkell Centre at 8pm on Friday 5th September - look out for the banner, which will be erected near the Clock Tower during the week before.

This season's films have been carefully selected by the Film Club Committee to provide entertaining and thought-provoking films not normally shown in mainstream cinemas. They are a mix of first films from new directors, foreign language films (subtitled), new films from established directors and, sometimes, the just plain unusual!

Membership fees for 2014-15 are £27.50 per adult or £49.50 for a couple living at the same address - great value for 10 films. Download an application form now or pick one up from Nailsworth Tourist Office.
